Growing up in the New York City area and later living in Santa Fe, New Mexico, I’ve been lucky enough to have lived in two of the best restaurant cities in America. Anyone who knows me can attest to the fact that during any conversation, it is just a matter of minutes before the subject of food, cooking, or dining out takes over whatever it was we were originally talking about.

From the time my sister and I were small, my father took turns with us preparing Sunday night dinners for our family. We were in charge of preparing a menu, food shopping, and assisting my father in the kitchen. This ritual is one of my fondest childhood memories. Most of my extended family share this same passion for good food, and we take great pride and joy in sharing recipes, and restaurant recommendations with each other.

So it’s no surprise that as an adult I’ve enjoyed many years in the restaurant and wine service industry, culminating in five years at Comme Chez Vous, Santa Fe’s award-winning and much loved French restaurant.

And now it is with great pleasure that I take on the task of profiling some of the area’s best restaurants for Seminole magazine. For this, the premier issue, I am delighted to share with you two very different restaurants with one common denominator—phenomenal food!

With almost one year on the scene, Journeys is a world-class restaurant in Longwood, sure to be a favorite with those who appreciate exquisite food. And Del Frisco’s, a multi-award-winning landmark, that continues to be consistent in serving the best in steak and seafood.

Both restaurants pride themselves on putting out excellent food in a relaxed and inviting atmosphere. And both are on my list of personal favorites, which makes it such a treat to be able to share my enthusiasm about them with you.
