New at Florida Autism Center

Many new and exciting things are taking place at Florida Autism Center (FAC). Here’s a small sampling of what FAC is celebrating this summer:

FAC moved into a brand new building during the winter and is now working on beautifying its new home—with help from an Eagle Scout, who with his father have agreed to help improve the outdoor play space by adding shade, a balance beam, and play equipment. This is exciting for the kids.

FAC was recently featured on Local 6 News. In case you missed the stories, they’re on the Local 6 Web site (“Problem Solvers”) and YouTube (search Florida Autism Center). FAC is grateful to Local 6 for shining a light on this important work.

The autism insurance mandate went into effect April 1st—another step forward for autism therapy and awareness. The mandate means that families may now be eligible for payment for service through their private insurance. (Contact FAC for details and help setting up early intervention for your child.)

Tuition for the coming school year has been lowered. Ratios have been lowered, too, making FAC the lowest-ratio program at the lowest cost in Central Florida. And FAC accepts the McKay scholarship, making it possible for many kids with special needs to have their tuition covered in full.

FAC is now taking enrollment for summer camp. Check the Web site for information.

And one more bit of news: FAC has joined the Twitter phenomenon! Under the name FloridaAutism, FAC sends out daily “tweets” (notes) about the program and interesting developments in the world of autism. But if you’re not into Twitter or daily updates are a bit much, yet you want information, go to the FAC Web site and sign up for the monthly newsletter for the latest developments in autism and what’s going on at FAC.
