Orlando Repertory Theatre
The REP Rocks with a "Nutty" Nutcracker
through Dec. 18. Saturdays, 12:00pm and 4:00pm; Sundays, 2:00pm and 5:30pm
?Orlando Repertory Theatre (The REP), presents the new holiday rock musical A Nutty Nutcracker Christmas by Ralph Covert and G. Riley Mills. First presented in Chicago in 2005, this production turns the traditional Nutcracker story on its head. Rockin' songs, written by popular family music artist Ralph Covert of Ralph's World, set the scene.
"This isn't your mama's Nutcracker," says director Rob Anderson. "No, this Nutcracker is nutty. It is contemporary and upbeat and not what you might expect. Yet, the core message is stuff the season is made of—'If you open your mind you will open your heart and you may find something you didn't even know you were looking for.'"
Cindy White's original scenic designs take the story into a video game-inspired world, perfectly complemented by creative costumes designed by Marcy Singhaus. Steve MacKinnon, most recently seen at The REP as music director of this summer's blockbuster Hairspray and for The REP Power Chords, serves as music director.

A Tuna Christmas
Nov. 30 through Dec. 30, 2011
A Tuna Christmas is back by popular demand. In this hilarious sequel to Greater Tuna—written by Ed Howard, Joe Sears and Jaston Williams, and directed by Patrick Flick—the outrageously funny and much loved characters of Tuna, Texas, are back for Christmas.
Local radio personalities, Thurston Wheelis and Arles Struvie, report that the Christmas festivities are in jeopardy and no nativity scene is safe. Two talented men portray all 24 citizens of Texas' third smallest town, where the Lion's Club is too liberal and Patsy Cline never dies.
Content Advisory: A Tuna Christmas includes mild adult language and some sexual references. It may not be suitable for young children.
